City Year
City Year corps members spend 11 months working hands-on with small groups of students to change their education outcomes and their futures as a whole. Some day-to-day activities include providing one-on-one or group tutoring, running after school programs, leading energetic morning greetings, and making positive phone calls home.

Communities in Schools
Communities In Schools' school-based staff partner with teachers to identify challenges students face in class or at home and coordinate with community partners to bring outside resources inside schools. They work to provide immediate needs like food or clothing, to more complex ones like counseling or emotional support.

Dreaming Out Loud
Dreaming Out Loud increases access to healthy food and work to improve community health, develop low-income entrepreneurs and cooperatives, and train at-risk adult residents for sustainable, family supporting wages.

The Flamboyan Foundation
The Flamboyan Foundation believes that family engagement—the collaboration between families and educators—accelerates student learning. Flamboyan helps teachers partner with families to support student success.

Georgetown Kids2College
Kids2College is an early college awareness program that introduces 6th grade students to the concept of higher education by placing Georgetown University students in local elementary and middle school classrooms to facilitate college preparation workshops. The Kids2College curriculum emphasizes interactive, hands-on activities that reinforce the program’s premise: higher education is something you can achieve if you plan ahead. Additionally, the program allows them to explore careers and the educational requirements necessary to reach their career goals.

At present, the program reaches out to Washington DC area schools in Ward 7. Georgetown University students selected and trained as facilitators visit the 6th grade class in each designated school twice a week for up to six weeks. The students discuss their personal experiences of college life, pre-college accomplishments, career interests, and answer specific questions. The program concludes with a day-long visit to Georgetown’s campus – the Shadow Day Experience. Each year, over 150 students, faculty, and staff from our middle schools tour the campus, conduct a scavenger hunt, meet GU faculty and staff who share their college experiences, attend lectures/seminars, and have a lunch with all staff and students in the Leo O’Donnovan’s Dining Hall.


Higher Achievement
Higher Achievement's rigorous after school and summer academic program closes the opportunity gap for middle school youth in at-risk communities. The program's proven model provides an intensive year-round learning environment, caring role models, and a culture of high expectations, resulting in college-bound scholars with the character, confidence, and skills to succeed. On average, 95 percent of scholars who complete Higher Achievement advance to top academic high school programs, and 93 percent advance to college.
